The Plant Mixed-use Development
This 10-storey, 125,000 square foot boutique mixed-use development offers 74 sustainable condominiums—most of which are two-bedrooms, along with studio, three- and four-bedroom suites—featuring spacious balconies. The innovative “terrace to table” concept is supported by a greenhouse-inspired common space for cultivating and growing plants, an industrial-style communal kitchen, and a rainwater recovery system for irrigation. Other sustainability features include a green roof and exterior accent wall, high-performance envelope, and geothermal system for heating and cooling.
The building also offers street front retail, commercial office space on the first two floors, and three levels of underground parking.
The Plant was built on a constricted urban site with an adjacent building being constructed simultaneously. Our project team implemented just-in-time deliveries and effective staging and sequencing. We also developed an innovative single-side framework to minimize scheduling conflicts.
The development won the Project of the Year award from BILD Toronto (2018, Mid/High-Rise Category) and was completed in 2020.
